Mityana Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Prossy Mwanjuzi, has filed a legal challenge against a recent court ruling in the ongoing Zigoti land dispute, describing the decision as a “miscarriage of justice” obtained in her absence.
Mwanjuzi, through her lawyers at K. Christopher Advocates & Solicitors, has petitioned the High Court in Mubende to overturn the October 8 judgment, which she claims was fraudulently secured and procedurally flawed.
Her application seeks a certiorari order to quash the ruling, a stay of execution to halt enforcement, a declaration that the judgment was obtained through fraudulent means, and compensation for costs if her actions are deemed lawful.
“I cannot stand these illegalities. Justice must not be twisted to reward fraud. We must defend due process and the truth,” Mwanjuzi said, emphasizing her role as a government mediator seeking to restore peace and protect public interest in the community.
The controversy has drawn the attention of Minister of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development Judith Nabakooba, who called for an independent probe into what she terms “increasing judicial inconsistencies in land-related cases.”
She urged the Chief Justice to review such cases to protect citizens from the misuse of judicial processes.
Local leaders and residents in Zigoti have expressed strong support for Mwanjuzi, praising her stance against land grabbing and her dedication to community mediation.
Observers note that the case could set a precedent regarding the role of RDCs in land disputes and prompt wider judicial scrutiny of property cases involving government officials.
Mwanjuzi remains defiant, vowing to continue defending justice. “I have always served Mityana and Uganda with integrity. I stood for justice, and I’ll continue to stand for it no matter who tries to silence the truth,” she said.
The matter now awaits the High Court’s determination, with increasing attention on the Chief Justice’s office to review judicial conduct and procedural fairness in land disputes.
